Daily Dance
Performance/internet/DVD (in progress)

The "Daily Dance" project, in collaboration with Ronaldo Kiel, received support from a grant from The Experimental Television Center for the shooting the raw footage.

"Daily Dance" started from the idea of recording a minute of dance a day for the year 2000. We taped in our living room, putting the date and creating a title before shooting each minute. We end up with over six hours of footage by the end of the year.

In 2001, I choose the footage from six random days in January 2000 (myself a year ago) to be source material for a new solo. I cut and edited the footage several times to see new possibilities in combining various parts of movements. The dance, "Six of One", premiered at the Colorado College in July, 2001, with music by Carl Landa and costume by Yukie Moen.

Also in July of 2001, Kiel and I created a prototype DVD of "Daily Dance", which featured all the titles and video clips from the month of January. For the first time, we could see the dances instantly created by the footage from the days. The viewers can search by title, day, week, etc.
