Lisa Bielawa has appeared as vocalist in performances of her own works in Japan, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Italy and Russia, and at the Bang On A Can and Lincoln Center Festivals. A co-founder/director of the acclaimed MATA Festival, her 40-minute work The Right Weather was premiered by American Composers Orchestra at Zankel Hall in 2004. She tours and records as a member of the Philip Glass Ensemble and the early music group Pomerium. She has sung major roles in operas by Anthony Braxton and Michael Gordon, and has premiered and recorded works written for her by Aaron Jay Kernis, Michael Daugherty, Randall Woolf and Toby Twining.
