Artist Andrea J. Wollensak received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Univeristy
of Michigan in 1983, after five years of working in the design field in New
York City. She went to graduate school at Yale University and received a
Masters of Fine Art in 1990.
Wollensak's professional work (national and international) includes graphic
design, exhibition design, new media site research with Global Positioning
System (GPS), and sculpture and holographic installations. The institutions
involved with design work include The Museum of Modern Art, The New Museum
of Contemporary Art, Total Design, UNA (Amsterdam). New media artworks have
been created and exhibited at Stichting Kunst and Complex (Rotterdam), The
Banff Centre for the Arts and The Nationale Centre for the Arts in Mexico
City. Professor Wollensak's funded research has included site projects in
Banff, New York City, Montreal, Rotterdam, and Mexico City, interactive work
at Alias Research and Fringe Research in Toronto. Collaborative grants include
National Science Foundation, Fulbright Foundation and the Graham Foundation.
